Anders was the kind of rebellious pet who had a history of escaping from previous owners until they gave him up again for adoption by someone with a firmer, more overbearing hand. It might have helped, of course, if his masters weren't neglectful to the heightened appetites of this particular pet - but Sanji was neglectful in other ways. He had a hair trigger when it came to males, volatile and prone to fits of violence when angered or dissatisfied, eager to ruthlessly beat a pet back into submission.

It's why Anders was chained heavily as he was scrubbed clean and left to to dry, hung by his hands in a barren room with thick walls and lit only by a few dim lamps, the air thick with a haze of cigarette smoke.

Sanji has spent the last half hour seated, smoking, staring at the pet with an air of barely constrained fury and contempt. Anders has once again acted out, and Sanji wasn't having any of it. Blowing out a whisper of smoke, he pushes away from the table with a scrape of the chair legs over the floor and gets to his feet. Peels off his jacket. ]

The day has been fairly slow. Anders is sitting with his receptionist in the front office of his veterinary clinic, eating takeout from the restaurant a few doors down. The waiting room is empty, the kennel has one puppy who is sleeping on the monitor he can see from where he sits, and there aren't any scheduled appointments. It's nice. And for once his white coat isn't absolutely covered in fur, either. Not that he minds it.

"You could probably take off," he says, looking up at the clock. 4:30, and they close at 5. "I can make a mess of paperwork if anyone comes in last minute and leave it scattered all over your desk so you can mutter under your breath at me tomorrow."

Lirene rolls her eyes and shakes her head before getting up. "Tidy pile. I can sort through your handwriting and what you leave, but leave it tidy."

Anders grins and teasingly salutes. "Have a good evening."

"You too," she says, and then she's headed out and he's left alone, sipping tea and watching the monitor until a ding of the door brings him back to the present.

"Hello!" Anders says with possibly a little too much excitement. He's bored, after all.

Anders stirs as the morning begins, shifting to put his arms around Sanji. He's not quite ready to get up yet. Or he's not yet ready to leave the bed. It's warm, as is Sanji. Scooting closer, he nuzzles the back of Sanji's neck and spoons him before running a hand down his side.

"Good morning," he murmurs. "I think I've the day off today. Any interest in making plans?" Having help at the Clinic is nice. Generally it would mean he can get other things done, but today he's thinking more of doing someone else rather than various errands and tasks. "My ass doesn't have your name written all over it, but it should."
